Last updated: 25 July 2025

Christina Keeble is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all clients, especially those who may be more vulnerable due to age, disability, trauma, or life circumstances.
This policy outlines how safeguarding is embedded in my work and the steps I take to identify and respond to concerns about safety, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
1. My Commitment to Safety and Wellbeing
I believe that every person has the right to feel safe and be treated with dignity and respect. Safeguarding is a core part of my practice and I am committed to:
-
Promoting the emotional and physical safety of every person I work with
-
Recognising signs of potential harm or abuse
-
Responding promptly and appropriately to concerns
-
Complying with relevant laws and ethical obligations
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to all aspects of my professional services and interactions. It covers all clients and, where relevant, their families, carers, support people, and other professionals I may engage with as part of my work.

3. Understanding Safeguarding
Safeguarding means actively working to prevent harm, abuse, or neglect—especially for people who may be more at risk. This includes:
-
Physical abuse – any form of physical harm or injury
-
Emotional or psychological abuse – including threats, humiliation, or isolation
-
Sexual abuse – any unwanted or inappropriate sexual behaviour
-
Neglect – failing to meet a person's basic needs
-
Exploitation – using someone's situation for personal gain
4. How I Work Safely
I take the following practical steps to uphold safety:
-
I maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
-
I obtain informed consent before sessions or sharing any information (except where required by law)
-
I work in ways that respect the rights, privacy and dignity of each person
-
I use secure systems for communication and record-keeping
-
I continue to learn and review best practices to improve safeguarding in my work
5. Responding to Concerns
If I become aware of or suspect a risk of harm to a client, I will:
-
Listen with care and take all concerns seriously
-
Ensure immediate safety if someone is at risk
-
Document concerns factually
-
Report to appropriate services if required (e.g. Child Protection, NDIS Commission, police)
I follow the mandatory reporting and legal obligations relevant to my role in Victoria, Australia.

6. Raising a Concern About My Practice
If you have any concerns about how I have conducted myself or any part of my service, I encourage you to raise it directly with me. You can also refer to my Complaints Policy for more details on how to make a formal complaint.

7. Review and Updates
This policy is reviewed regularly and updated in line with changes to legislation, regulations or best practice. You can always find the latest version on my website.
